My first attempt at vloging. Here is what my friends and I got up to on a recent trip into town. I hope you enjoy.
Today I thought I’d do something a little different on here. I don’t normally post things like this they tend to go on YouTube. But since I can’t do that and I bought a few bits and pieces recently I thought I’d share them with you.
I bought from three different sites. One I use more regularly than is healthy, one I’ve known about for a while but this is the first time I’ve bought from them and the third was a new find!
As I said I shop at Miss Selfridge way to often than is healthy for my bank balance, but there was a sale, and then I got 20% off my order so I bought the dress and two pairs of shoes.
I’ve needed a pair of sandals since last year, I spent most of my time in Converse which isn’t always great in the heat. I liked the look of these and when they arrived they lived up to the picture. I like the design because even though they’re the type of shoe I can’t normally wear the design means I can adapt them if I find I step out of them.
The dress isn’t really typically suitable for summer or spring because it’s black but I liked the design at the back as well as the printed design of the flowers. The material is really thin and I think it will remain cool to wear even when it gets warmer.
The pumps I couldn’t resist, I’ve never really worn shoes like these before but I really liked the look of them and I think they’ll be really nice when the weather start getting warmer. I liked the contrast between the colours I don’t tend to wear shoes any colour other than black so this is going outside of my comfort zone.
Everything 5 Pounds
This site I knew about from one of my friends who had bought from them before so I thought I’d check it out. There stock changes daily so it’s best to keep going back to see what’s new. When I went on last week these two dress caught my eye. I wanted to try and find some things that were slightly more colourful than I normally get. Being a drama student you get used to wearing black 90% of the time but when I have time off over the summer it’d be nice to wear some more colour.
The dress on the left is described as animal print but I liked that the design is much more abstract and I seem to be liking blue recently and I liked the combination within this dress. The dress on the right I think is much more casual and I liked the pattern on the fabric and the fact that the front panel is a lighter blue to the back.
Rings and Tings
And finally Rings and Tings. I actually discovered this website from Oh Hello Mango‘s blog. I had a look at it and I had to make a purchase when I went online. The dress was on sale and it’s not what I’d normally go for but I thought it was really pretty and would be wonderful for spring. And as I said before I’m trying to get more colours into my wardrobe and the green in this dress is different from what I normal go for.
There was loads of jewelry on the site that interested me but I’m trying to get more into wearing different types of jewelry so instead of getting single items I went for a pack that the site made up. I opted for vintage style and this is what I got. I think my favorite piece is the binoculars necklace. No idea what I’m going to wear it with yet but I will find something! The bracelets are the only things I’m not sure about, The one on the left if so large that to wear it properly I’d have to wear it about half way up my forearm. Whereas the other is elasticated so it’s slightly smaller and easier to wear.
Finally, the ring in the last picture was a free gift that I got for spending a certain amount and it’s a really interesting design, I’m looking forward to trying to incorporate these pieces into outfits.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and found it interesting.
I shall see you next time
This weekend my boyfriend and I visited London, partly for a holiday but also because I had my first audition for Drama school. So as I write this I am sat in a coffee shop on Euston station while we wait for our train home.
Thursday evening was spent traveling up (and panicking briefly over late taxis and forgotten lunch) and then Friday morning I abandoned my boyfriend at the station (leaving him to get lost ; which he denies adamantly,) so I could go to my audition. After dragging him out of bed 6:30 in the morning, of course.
Once finished and I had changed out of my all black ensemble, (into yet another black ensemble, my creativity astounds) swapping the required trousers out for a slightly more fashionable skirt. We headed out for Westfield’s shopping Mall, where we went in all the shops we couldn’t afford (window shopping has never been more appropriate).
Eventually after many heartbreaking experiences (even in the high street shops) we went to grab some food since neither of us had eaten since breakfast (at 7am, it was by then 3pm) after a quick view of the food court and astonishingly deciding we didn’t want Burger King we arrived at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
If you haven’t already been to this restaurant go. No seriously open a new tab and find the one closest to you and go. The food was awesome! It was so good, I can’t quite find the words to describe it. I had a Camembert and Cranberry Chicken burger and my boyfriend had that days special that I forgot (as usual) the name off. But he thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn’t even finish it surprisingly; although having a Peanut butter milkshake probably didn’t help; (even more surprising was the fact that I managed all of mine and he didn’t.) We also enjoyed a side of Sweet Potato fries, I’ve seen a lot of people rave about them, now I understand the hype. They went really well with our burgers and I think (please don’t judge) I prefer them to normal chips/fries.
Rather than having desert once we’d finished our wander around we stopped at a soft pretzel stand and got cinnamon and sugar pretzel to take back to the hotel for later (we were both far to full to eat it there and then) but I insisted of getting one because it reminded me of a family trip to America where 13 year old me decided that I could have one for my dinner and nothing else.
We decided on this silver one shaped as a cat. Most of the beads I already have are silver so I thought I’d stick to that and also (however much he denies it) my boyfriend is obsessed with cats, and at times I’m sure he was a cat in a past life the way he acts.
Saturday we got up much later and packed up our things and left the the hotel and after leaving our suitcase at left luggage headed out for our day around 12. First stop was Forbidden Planet, as I may have hinted in previous blogs, I’m a little bit of a nerd, ( well little bit is an under statement really) so I loved going in here. Having had a look round on the top floor at all the replicas of different Harry Potter wands and then having to drag myself from River Songs sonic screwdriver we headed downstairs. Here I had to control myself even more than yesterday when I found a beautiful book of the classic Disney films concept art but at £45 I couldn’t quite justify it, and also getting it home on the train would have been a nightmare.
Unable to leave empty handed I decided on a BBC book about Doctor Who titled ‘The Doctor His Life And Times’ I’ve not read much yet but I can see its going to be really funny, it’s not a book about the actors who played the Doctor, but it’s about the character himself. Using different things such as interviews, diary entry’s and news paper articles to gather the story’s about each regeneration.
Once again we had a late lunch this time at an Italian Strada in Covent Garden. This time we opted for the same thing a pasta dish ‘Strozzapreti Luganega’
Luganega sausage, salty pancetta bacon and wilted spinach, on hand twisted strozzapreti pasta, with chili butter and hard cheese.
It was really good pasta and we both really enjoyed it. The portions were large so we just had the pasta and a drink each.
One of the main places we wanted to go was Carnaby street, so with the ‘trusty’ sat nav in hand, my boy friend lead us off into Soho. About 20 minutes later we realised, (and once again he will deny everything) he had gotten us lost since it was trying to take us back to Forbidden Planet rather than where we wanted to go. I couldn’t say it was all a loss though, our wander took us past some interesting sights.
So with the correct destination imputed we once again set off and shortly found ourselves at our desired location. Then we were on a coat search for him, after finding the ‘perfect’ coat in the Ben Sherman sale and them not having the correct size he finally found one in Vans that was the right size and what he was looking.
By now we were getting a bit tired so after one last stop in Boots so I could pick up some new brushes, after being totally confused by the MAC shop we headed over to Euston station to reclaim our bag and wait for our train.
Which is where you find me now with a cup of peppermint tea writing my account of this weekend with at least another hour to wait before our train arrives. The likely hood is that this will go up tomorrow though when I have a more reliable Internet source.
So I shall leave you now and I shall see you later on in the week. Most likely with the next post for the #2014blogger challenge,
See you then.
#decemberphotoaday, #FMSdecemberphotoaday, #photoaday, Christmas, Christmas and holiday season, Christmas tree, decorations, first christmas, handmade, holiday, memories, Merry, photo, photo a day, Photography, Shopping, stockings, Trees
And here is today’s photo,
Again I don’t want two photos of our Christmas tree but when all our decorations go up it begins to feel much Christmassyer in our house and these are the decorations that we always have up around our fire place each year. Including the stockings that my Grandma made my brother and I for our first Christmases.
I hope you like today’s photo and look forward to tomorrow’s.
As promised here is what I got in my Birchbox this month and my initial thoughts on them. This was my first one so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I really liked the packaging and how it was sent.
Now I’ve just come to the realisation that I no longer have photo shop because we wiped the laptop yesterday so my plan was to group a few of the photos together then talk about them isn’t going to work until I can downloaded it again so I’m afraid I have to do them one by one for now.
In the box I got two hair products, one body, two make up and one nails.
So this isn’t really a product but it’s almost an alternative to a hair band called a Twist Band, I’m not really sure about the colour because I’m not a yellow person but I will definitely be giving it a go.
And this is a hair spray, I’ve not used it yet since I don’t really use hair spray but with this I will be trying it out soon to see if it’s better than previous ones I’ve used.
This isn’t a good photo my camera just refused to focus for the rest of the photo’s I apologise. So this product is a body lotion. It smells really good what I’ve seen so far hopefully it’ll be nice when I try it out.
The next product is an eye shadow, glitter dust type thing. Which I haven’t opened yet because I’m afraid of spilling it everywhere and haven’t really had a chance to try it out yet but it looks like a really nice pinky colour.
This next product is a cheek/lip tint and it’s so tiny and really cute because it’s just a sample size, I’ve used it slightly on my lips and it’s a very nude colour but I may experiment using it on top of a lipstick or something. It does however smell really good quite fruity and I was surprised by this.
And finally the only product that I have actually tried out of all the ones I got, unfortunately I don’t have a photo of it. But it’s really cool it’s a textured nail polish set so you get a bottle of nail polish. This one is red. And a matching pot of glitter and you use two coats of polish then dip your nail in the glitter. I’m not sure if I like it yet. I love the colour and it does look very festive but I don’t like having texture on my nails so I don’t know if I could wear it on all my nails so I could possibly just have it as a statement nail. I will have to think about it.
Lastly because I started my subscription at a certain point I also got a free bracelet with this months box. I do have a photo but it’s really bad that I’m afraid I can’t post it so as soon as I get a better picture I will upload it so you can all see it.
One last thing before I go I promise. As you may have noticed I haven’t uploaded today’s photo of the day. This is because I didn’t have a chance to take the picture until my living room was taken over by the parentel’s and I didn’t think they’d want the lights turned off so I will get the photo tomorrow and post both today and tomorrow’s photo at the same time.
I hope you like this post. If you did and you’d like me to do more like this please let me know. I shall see you tomorrow with more photos.
Today’s photo was easy. Nothing beats a hot chocolate whenever but especially when it’s cold! I had this one this morning in a cafe but I have a large collection of different flavors at home for when I feel like something different.
So far my favorite has been the Chili Hot Chocolate from Whittard of Chelsea which can be found here.
I hope you like today’s photo and look forward to tomorrows.
Since it’s almost the end of October I thought I’d begin to look at colours to wear throughout the Autumn/Winter months.
I’ve got some new make up. I may cover nail colours I’ve picked up in another post. I’ve primarily looked for darker more muted colours compared to the brighter colours I tended to wear over the summer.
Here are some swatches of the new eye shadows and a lip colour I’ve gotten starting on the left.
Is the lip colour. It’s MAC Matte Viva Glam III (A33) I personally prefer lip shades that are have purple undertones rather than pinks but with this colour I tried something new.
It has much more of a brown undertone than I thought I’d ever go for but I’m so glad I’ve gone for something new as it looks so great on.
The eye shadows are also from MAC, in the colours Shadowy Lady and Antiqued they look like there going to work so well together and I can’t wait to try them out!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. If you’d like to see more like these in the future please let me know and I will see yoy next time!
